My favourite floral dress

Own the Runway posted this delightful summer dress yesterday and I simply had to make a blog post about it!

I have accessorised it and picked an entire outfit! I did my best to keep it affordable… although you might recognise the handbag ;-)

Dress – £19.99 from Own The Runway

Mustache Necklace – £14.95 from Temporary Secretary

Clock Necklace – £29 from Rock N Rose

Bag – £670 from Miu Miu at Net a Porter

Jacket – £45.99 from Own The Runway

Bracelet – £14 from Rock N Rose

Shoes – £18.99 from Own The Runway

Put together I think this would be a great outfit! (with or without the bag)

Jean Genie let yourself go

Morning Everyone…

So, seasons are changing… OK the weather might not be yet, but your outfits should start to… New floral dress?? Just wear it with a chunky cardi! New Peter Pan collar top… wear under a dress to layer up for warmth!

With that in mind… a big challenge for me in any spring/summer is that I have legs that a tree trunk would be proud of! I am working on them… but I am not predicting any dramatic change so… how can I cover them up and still look summery? Jeans and leggings are part of my staple wardrobe diet, so I thought I would share with you some of the colours I have been looking at for this new season!

I also found these little babies from Moto at Topshop!

I would need drastic improvement on my legs before daring to buy and wear these!

A glimpse into my world

Just thought I would welcome you into my home, here are a few of my favourite things that I have in my lounge!

They have been collected over the years and include:

Heart stones bought and Manchester’s Christmas Market,

Picture frame that s framing… well frames, the biggest is from Hobby craft and I painted it, the smaller all collected from antique shops.

Dunny’s – this is one of my more geeky obsessions, see Kidrobot for more options.

Old books – quite a few of those – they are randomly scattered around the entire house!

A mini terracotta warrior

Keep Calm and Carry on… yes… yes… I know it’s now been done to death… but I happen to love this interpretation.

We have a couple of old camera’s also scatterhed around the house. A masque from Venice – present from Matt.

A ninja this is also from Kidrobot. Weebl and Bob – if you don’t know what this is… click on the link and prepare to be addicted.

An owl that my other half made – it was an xmas pressie from me from Muji in 2009 – no longer availible I am afraid!

And last but not least… my tea set! It’s an oldie but a goodie! A present from my mum, it’s antique, from ebay I believe!

Let me know if you like what you see!

Before I am 30…

So As promised here it is – the list of 30 things to do before I am 30!

1 Sell a painting

Yes I paint, I like to this i’m quite good at it, so I just need to decide how much to price it for! Might even paint a new one especially!

2 Write the first chapter of my book

Well this might be write or drae, I have two ideas for a book… will have to wait and see which one I progress

3 Crosby beach

Antony Gormley’s Another Place is a piece of artwork you can walk around, feel and touch. It’s 100 cast iron ment that have been placed onto Crosby beach for all to experience. I have never been but have always wanted to

4 Go to Wimbledon

Odd one for me this, as I don’t really like sport, but One is British and One must experience the best that Britain has to offer, to feel the sense of national failure on a more up close and personal level

5 Hot air balloon

Another off one as I am actually scared of heights, due to the expense involved I’d imagine this will have to be the last one I complete as it might have to be a 30th Birthday pressie

6 Get another tattoo

I love the one I have on my foot, but it’s time I had another, this time in memory of my most excellent grandad

7 Climb the three peaks of the UK

Which are Snowdon, Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike. Walking is my new stress relief and exercise, I have all of the gear it’s time I really focus on getting an idea

8 Dance in the fountains in Piccadilly Gardens

This is usually something that only children do, but I’m going to act like I’m 3 rahter than 30! The photo of this will more than likely make you laugh!

9 Wear something I have made

As you all know, I have taken up sewing, so this will really feel like an achievement for me!! What to make? What to make?

10 Own a first edition book

I don’t think I’ve mentioned this yet, but I love old books!! I’d like to have at least one really special first edition book. These can be pricey so might have to shop around for this one!

11 Visit Beautrix Potter’s house

Another place I have always wanted to go but have never been. I have loved her since I was little and will continue to foreve I have no doubt

12 See Shakespeare at the Globe Theatre

I think I would like it to be A Mid Summers Night Dream or Romeo and Juliet

13 Go on a steam train…

and pretend it’s the hogwarts express

14 Visit the new pandas at Edinburgh Zoo

I followed the news of them when they made their long journey over here. It’s only right I pop up and make sure they have settled in ok

15 Send a message in a bottle

I’ll pop a little message along with an email address in a bottle and throw it out to sea somehow, see if anyone replies! Oh and hope I don’t get arrested for littering the sea!

16 Free Fall – or indoor sky diving

Now a lot of people suggested I sky dive, which I am open to, but I want this list to be achievable and I thinking that funding may prevent my launching myself out of a plane, so i’ll give the indoor version a go instead. I have to admit though the thoughts of this is making my inner control freak panic

17 Write a will

Let’s face it, at 30 it’s about time. I should may think about getting a pension too… oh no… wait… that’s to ust boring and sensible

18 Be able to run 5k

This will sound easy to a lot of people, however I am not one of them! Running is not something that comes natural to me, but I am naturally determind

19 Be in 2 countries at once

The key to this one is finding a border where it’s safe and preferably not illegal, to stop and take a picture!

20 See a sunrise

Believe it or not, something I don’t think I have ever done. Lots of sunsets, no sunrises. Sould be interesting as I am not a morning person

21 Plant a tree

And I don’t mean in my back garden. I will plant one somewhere that seems right, when I find the right place! Perhaps up one of the peaks!

22 Give Blood

Again never done this, which I feel very guilty about, I think everyone should! I’m on the donor list which is the only thing that make me feel less guilty. And… I’ll do almost anything for a free cuppa and a biscuit!

23 Kiss in the rain

I have always loved walking in the rain, but have never had a goof old smooch in the rain. Might spare you all the public display of affection and take a picture afterwards to show you how wet we get!

24 Make ice cream

I do not yet know how to do this, or what is involved, but if the people that they let on Come Dine With Me can do it, I am fairly sure I can manage it

25 Go to watch Stockport County with my dad

Me and football do not get along, but me and my dad do! He promises me it will be an experience… and I don’t doubt him, just not convinced it will be a good one!

26 Row a boat

I think I have have dabbled in this before, but I can’t remember! Coordination is not my strong point, so this might end up another picture of my being very wet again!

27 Learn one song on a musical instrument

I have chosen… the recorder! How long do you think it will last before Matt breaks it in half? How many renditions of three blind mice?

28 Go to a roller disco

Yes they do still exist, yes I do already have roller skates, no I’m not very good, yes I’m sure it will be fun, yes I am sure I will come away bruised

29 Make and decorate my 1st Christmas cake

Last Christmas I made my first Chrismas dinner which appeared to be a success, so this year… Christmas cake! I don’t really like Christmas cake but I really should know how to make one. I’m sure Delia’s Christmas cookbook will come in handy again!

30 Abseil

As my age goes up, I’m going down… a rock face that is! Looking forward to this one despite the afore mentioned fear of heights!!

And that’s it! That’s what I plan to do before the big 3 0!! As I said, I’ll post photographic evidence of each one as, and when, I have achieved them!!

I have just over a year… 26th of Feb 2013!!!
